i Pad Contest Winner 2010
Who doesn’t love something free! Technology is such a huge part of everyone’s lives and it is always changing. Everyone wants the latest, greatest thing and we wanted to give someone the opportunity to do two things: one, to show off their hard work and the other was to win a free Apple i pad! We set out to find people and their M-Rock stone projects. We encouraged people to do creative projects and to capture the whole process and submit their pictures for their chance to win. We were excited to receive submissions from all over the country.
Aubry B. from Cottonwood Mountain, Colorado submitted pictures of his beautiful garage project where he used M-Rock’s fieldstone. Wally C. from Charlotte, North Carolina submitted pictures of his beautiful deck area where he used both Castle Stone and M-Rock patio/hearth stones to complete his project. Elizabeth W. from Pearisburg, Virginia used one of our Superior Fit Stones to complete her built- in Safe project. There were many fireplace submissions, using many different stone types and colors, along with chimney projects, outdoor fireplaces and many foundation projects.
The one project that caught our eye and ultimately won was a project involving a church and a wall. The Clifton Forge Baptist Church’s wall project covers almost 2 blocks! After being snowed out several times we were able to make the trip to Clifton Forge to present Preacher Glenn Linthicum, Sterling Walker, and Thomas Sims with the winning i pad.
The church’s building committee had decided that the original wall needed to be fixed and Norma Morgan-Holbrok was the Chair person of the Building committee for the church at the time and she was in charge of the project. After exploring their other options she presented the idea of using M-Rock Stone to complete the project. They contracted the job out, purchased their M-Rock stone from SJ Neathawk in Covington and the project was under way. Thomas Sims, a member of the congregation was able to participate in the wall project and recalls the project as a good learning experience.
Mr. Walker was insistent that Mrs. Morgan- Holbrok was the brains behind the project and that a large part of the success was due to her efforts. The wall has added another touch of beauty to the existing beauty of the grounds of the church where a nice playground resides and is open to the community. Preacher Linthicum told us that the next task is to find a way to best use their prize and we are confident that they will find many uses for their i Pad.
Thanks to all who submitted and congratulations to the Clifton Forge Baptist Church!
